WAIPIO, Hawai'i – The Chaminade men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2013 season by hosting the Chaminade Invitational at Corp Field on Saturday.
Alaska-Anchorage swept all honors, capturing both men's and women's team races and individual honors.
On the men's side, the Seawolves captured top billing with seven runners finishing in the top-10, to end with 15 points. Hawai'i Pacific took second with 57 points, followed by BYU-Hawai'i with 62 and the host Silverswords with 114.
Alaska-Anchorage's Dylan Anthony was the top male finisher, followed by HPU's Fermin Murillo-Villagran and UAA's Issac Kangogo.
Jorge Cisneros was the top finisher for the Swords, followed by Emmanuel Jimenez and Mark Inay.
The Seawolves also won the women's contest with 15 points as seven Seawolves finished in the top-10, including the first six places. BYUH came in second with 58 points, while HPU finished third at 80. Hawai'i-Manoa (102 points), Hawai'i-Hilo (149) and host Chaminade (177) rounded out the field.
Individually, UAA's Susan Tanui, Joyce Kipchumba and Susan Bick were the top three women's finishers.
Jessica Wences was the top CUH finisher, followed by Ellissa Bio and Shannon Whener.
Chaminade returns to action next Saturday as they will compete in the University of Hawai'i Big Wave Invitational at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course at 7 a.m.
