Chaminade-Alumnae Box ScoreHONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team opened its 2014 season by reaching out to its past.
The Silverswords hosted their alumnae at McCabe Gym and debuted with a four-set win Friday. The varsity squad took the first three sets, 25-5, 25-15, 25-15, before the alumnae came back to win the fourth and final set, 25-19.
Sophomore outside hitter
Cassie Rushlow led the 'Swords with 11 kills while hitting at a .429 clip. She also had six digs and three block assists. Junior middle blocker
Reigna Johnson contributed seven kills at a .333 clip with five total blocks and five digs.
A pair of newcomers – sophomore
Madalene Barrett and freshman
Kira Long – made their Silversword debuts with six kills each.
Junior setter
Valentina Bevilacqua tallied 19 assists and nine digs, while sophomore
Kawai Oleole and freshman
Natashya Enos had seven digs apiece.
The 'Swords hit .261 as a team with 50 kills, 11 total blocks and 15 service aces, three from senior setter
Ka Ua Cale.

The Silverswords will make their regular season debut next Thursday when they face Daemen College in the East-West Challenge at 7 p.m. at McCabe Gym. Daemen will open the tournament at 4:30 p.m. against Florida Tech.
