’Swords Move up to No. 12 in NABC Coaches Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Thanks in part to an impressive stretch which included three wins over nationally recognized foes, the Chaminade University men's basketball team made the biggest jump in the latest NABC Coaches Top 25 Poll released Friday.

The Silverswords (10-0) vaulted eight spots to No. 12 in the poll which is the highest ranking in their Division II history. The 'Swords won four games in as many days earlier this week, culminated with a victory over then-No. 7 UC San Diego in the Hoops in Hawai'i D2 Power Invitational.

The top four of the poll remains the same with Bellarmine (Ky.) at No. 1 followed by Northwest Missouri State, Indiana (Pa.) and Saint Anselm (N.H.). Nova Southeastern (Fla.) moved up a spot to No. 5.

Other West Region squads in the poll are Cal Poly Pomona holding the eighth spot, UCSD at 14, Saint Martin's at 21 and fellow Pacific West Conference member Point Loma which entered the poll the first time this year at No. 24.

Meanwhile in the D2SIDA Media Top 25 Poll, Chaminade leapt even further, from No. 23 to 9 in those rankings. The top four of the D2SIDA poll is the same as the NABC poll except South Carolina Aiken holds down the No. 5 spot.

The Silverswords, who are one of the nine remaining unbeaten teams in Division II, resume PacWest action on Monday, Dec. 31 when they open a five-game road trip to northern California and the Central Valley at Fresno Pacific.
