IRVINE, Calif. – Four Chaminade University volleyball players were honored Tuesday by the Pacific West Conference for end-of-the-year honors.
Outside hitter
Emma Tecklenburg (Plano, Texas/Plano Senior) and right-side hitter
Rachel Reedy (Temple City, Calif./Arcadia) were named to the All-PacWest First Team while middle blocker
Lataisia Saulala (Morgan Hill, Calif./Oakwood) earned second team honors. Libero
Leka Kiner-Falefa (Honolulu/UNLV/Mid-Pacific Institute) was named the PacWest Newcomer of the Year.
All four had a hand in the Silverswords' 22-8 season, the first-ever back-to-back 20-win campaigns in program history.
Tecklenburg, who ended her career as a three-time All-PacWest honoree and a repeat first teamer from last year, finished the 2019 season fourth in the conference in kills at 3.37 per set. She wrapped up her career No. 2 in the school's all-time kills list with 1,292.
Reedy is on the all-conference team for the second straight year. A third team selection last season, the junior was one of just three players to rank in the conference's top 10 in both kills (2.96 kps) and hitting percentage (.328).
Saulala made the All-PacWest Team for the first time in her career. The sophomore had a breakout season in 2019, finishing third in the conference in hitting percentage at .349.
In her first playing season at Chaminade after spending last year as a redshirt following transferring from Division I UNLV, Kiner-Falefa set a school record with 489 digs, the program's first 400-dig season since 2013. Her 4.58 average was eighth in the PacWest and the highest since by a Silversword since 2010. She also led the squad with 32 aces.
