Kremer Named PacWest Freshman of Week

IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University men's basketball guard Kevin Kremer (Chico, Calif./Utah/Pleasant Valley HS) on Monday was named the Pacific West Conference Freshman of the Week for games between Dec. 16 to 22.
 
The redshirt freshman helped the Silverswords go 3-0 during the week and had his most productive three-game stretch of the season. He averaged 11.0 points and 10.0 rebounds while making 12 of his 17 shots from the field (70.6 percent) including 5-of-8 from 3-point range. He also blocked three shots.
 
Kremer opened the week with eight points and a season-high 11 rebounds against Holy Names on Tuesday. Two days later at Notre Dame de Namur, he made his first eight baskets en-route to a season-high 20 points along with 10 boards for this first career double-double. He finished the week on Saturday with five points, eight rebounds and two blocks at Dominican.
 
The transfer from Utah is second on the 'Swords in rebounds (6.0) and is shooting 64.1 percent from the floor.
 
Selom Mawugbe of Azusa Pacific the PacWest Player of the Week while Concordia's Jalen Sanders earned Defender of the Week.
 
The 'Swords are 6-4 on the season which includes a 6-1 mark against Division II foes this season. They are also 4-1 in the PacWest. The team is taking the Christmas week off then returns home on Saturday, Jan. 4 against Biola at McCabe Gymnasium. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m.
