Dressler Makes Top 50 for Bevo Francis Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chaminade University senior guard Grant Dressler (Las Vegas/Sacramento State/Palo Verde HS) has made the first cut of the Bevo Francis Award, Small College Basketball announced Friday.

The list was pared to 50 from the original list of 100. The award goes to the best college basketball player in NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA.

Dressler is the Pacific West Conference's leading 3-pointer shooter at 2.8 made per game while helping to lead the 18-4 Silverswords to their current No. 22 national ranking by the NABC. He is the conference's second-leading scorer at 18.5 points and third in assists at 4.5.

The list will have its second cut-down to 25 on March 15.

The 'Swords are currently third in the PacWest standings, just 1 1/2 games behind second-place Concordia Irvine. Chaminade can clinch a spot in the upcoming PacWest Tournament with either a win or an Academy of Art loss this weekend.

The Silverswords begin a crucial Southern California road swing Saturday when they meet No. 12 Point Loma in a battle of ranked squads. The 'Swords will have to deal with a Sea Lions squad that was upset by Hawai'i Hilo on Thursday.
