ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's golf team opened the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout with a 651 in Monday's 36-hole double rounds at the par-72 Corica Park South Course.
The Silverswords shot a 323 in the morning's 18-hole round then finished the day with a 328 in the afternoon session.
Jeren Nishimoto (Honolulu/Kaiser) is at a team-best 7-over-par 151 after shooting 2-over in the morning then 5-over in the afternoon.
After struggling in the first 18 with a 10-over,
Desmond Mello (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Hawai'i-Manoa/Moanalua HS) rebounded with a 6-over in the afternoon, giving him a 36-hole total of 160.
Colby Gunderson (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle) shot a two-round total of 165, followed by
Patrick Tran (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Capistrano Connections Academy) at 175 and
Curtis Coburn (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach) at 233.
The 18-hole finale of the Shootout is Tuesday.
