Stockslager Earns Pitcher of the Week Award

IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University hurler Madelyn Stockslager (Torrance, Calif./South) on Monday was named the Pacific West Conference Pitcher of the Week.

The sophomore went 2-0 with a save to help the Silverswords with a four-game sweep of Notre Dame de Namur this past weekend. In 17 innings of work, she allowed just two runs, struck out 18 with a miniscule series ERA of 0.82. It was the team's first four-game sweep since March 2015.

Stockslager opened the series Saturday by tossing a complete-game five-hitter in the 'Swords' 2-1 win. Then in the nightcap, she came out of the bullpen and struck out three to pick up a three-inning save, her first of the season and the second of her career.

Stockslager then closed the series with another complete-game five-hitter, this time with a season-high eight Ks with the Argos' only run being unearned.

Her weekend performance improved her to 5-2 on the season with her ERA dropping to 2.08.

Hawai'i Pacific University took the rest of the conference's weekly awards with Player of the Week going to Cieana Curran and Noel Saunders getting Freshman of the Week.

The Silverswords (7-6, 4-2 PacWest) host Holy Names in a four-game series starting Monday, March 11 at 3:30 p.m. Live streaming audio will be available on GoSwords.com.
