MILILANI, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's golf team on Monday competed in a rare same-day, double-dual match events against Hawai'i Pacific University.
The dual matches consisted of two separate 18-hole events with the first held in the morning at the par-72 Mililani Golf Course in Mililani with the second event held in the afternoon at the Leilehua Golf Course in Wahiawa.
HPU captured the morning dual match with a team score of 285 to Chaminade's 318.
Jeren Nishimoto (Honolulu/Kaiser) and
Desmond Mello (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Hawai'i-Manoa/Moanalua HS) posted the Silverswords' top scores with 3-over-par 75s.
Nishimoto and Mello were five shots behind HPU teammates Sirasit Prateepmongkol and Chad Vander Dussen who shared medalist honors by both firing 2-under-par 72s.
Colby Gunderson (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle) shot an 83 for the 'Swords followed by
Patrick Tran (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Capistrano Connections Academy) at 85 and
Curtis Coburn (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach) at 104.
