Volleyball Adds Four to 2019 Squad

HONOLULU – Chaminade University women's volleyball head coach Kahala Kabalis Hoke on Wednesday announced four additional recruits for the 2019 season.

Alecza Abary

 
Alecza Abary is a setter from Rancho Cucamonga High School in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., where she is the school's career assists leader. She guided the Cougars to four consecutive Baseline League titles and was a candidate for the Andi Collins Award which goes to the nation's top high school setter.

Rachel Montrose
 

Rachel "Rae" Montrose earned Class 6A All-State honorable mention honors at Lone Peak High School in Highland, Utah and helped the squad capture three consecutive 6A championships. A 6-2 middle blocker, Montrose recorded 116 blocks and 92 kills during her senior season.
 
Tatiana Toleafoa joins the 'Swords as a transfer from Division I Cal State Fullerton. A 5-6 outside hitter and defensive specialist from Union City, Calif., Toleafoa made 15 starts as a freshman for the Titans this past season, averaging two digs per set. Toleafoa was a standout outside hitter at James Logan High School as a four-time All-Mission Valley Athletic League First Team selection and earned second team all-state honors during her senior season. She will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Jacqueline Wolfe is a versatile middle blocker and outside hitter from Laguna Hills, Calif. The 6-1 sophomore helped lead Irvine Valley College to an appearance in the California Community College Athletic Association semifinal match last season, totaling 79 kills and 33 blocks. She prepped at Mater Dei High School, a girls volleyball power in Santa Ana, Calif., where she helped the Monarchs reach both the California Interscholastic Federation I-AA Southern Section and CIF Division I state finals her senior year. Her coach at IVC was Tom Pestolesi, a former University of Hawai'i All-American in the early 1980s. Wolfe is no stranger to the islands, playing at Hawai'i Pacific University during her freshman season in 2015, putting down 123 kills with 56 total blocks. She will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Abary, Montrose, Toleafoa and Wolfe join Bishop Alemany School outside hitter Annah Rivera, who signed with Chaminade last fall, as the 2019 recruits.
 
The 'Swords have 11 returnees including four starters from last year's squad that finished with a school-record 23 wins and the program's first postseason berth since 2004.
