LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team was named by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Monday for the 2018-19 AVCA Team Academic Award.
The Silverswords compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.498 for this past academic year and are one of five Pacific West Conference schools among the 141 NCAA Division II schools recognized by the AVCA for academic excellence. A record 1,142 teams across the nation in the college, high school and beach volleyball ranks earned the honor.
Thirteen Chaminade volleyball student-athletes were named last month as Academic All-PacWest selections for career GPAs over 3.00.
To be recognized for the AVCA Team Academic Award, a program must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale during the current academic year.
