Volleyball Receives Votes in AVCA Poll

The Chaminade University women's volleyball team is among those receiving votes in the AVCA Division II Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll released Tuesday.
 
The Silverswords received 25 points in the poll, which puts them at No. 35. Defending conference champion Azusa Pacific is the other Pacific West Conference squad in the poll.
 
The University of Tampa is the preseason No. 1 followed by Cal State San Bernardino which ended Chaminade's season at last year's NCAA West Regional.
 
The 'Swords will face two foes ranked in the poll. They meet Western Washington (No. 3) and Cal Poly Pomona (No. 20) on the same day (Sept. 13) at the D2 West Region Volleyball Showcase in Pomona, Calif.
 
Chaminade opens the regular season on Sept. 6 against Somona State at the Hawai'i Challenge at McCabe Gymnasium.
 
The first regular season AVCA poll will be released Sept. 9.
