Amaral-Artharee Repeats as Freshman of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. – For the second consecutive week, Chaminade University guard Isaac Amaral-Artharee (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic) is the Pacific West Conference Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week for games between Jan. 13 and 19.

The redshirt freshman put up a season-high 18 points in the Silverswords' 92-74 win at intercity rival Hawai'i Pacific University last Thursday, hitting six shots including four from behind the 3-point arc. He also pulled down five rebounds. Last Monday, he had six points and a season-high six boards in their victory over Dominican.

In his last four games, Amaral-Artharee is averaging 12.5 points while drilling 11 triples, which upped his scoring average to 8.2 ppg, fifth-best on the team. He is also averaging 3.5 rebounds during the stretch.

Azusa Pacific's Selom Mawugbe was the conference's Player of the Week while Defender of the Week went to Point Loma's Darnell Robateau.

Chaminade, which is 10-6 overall and sitting in fourth-place in the PacWest at 8-3, opens a three-game home stand Thursday against Holy Names at McCabe Gymnasium with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. That will be followed by a key matchup Saturday against Concordia, the PacWest preseason favorite. The Eagles own a 7-2 conference mark, one game ahead of the 'Swords in the standings.
