Dec. 18, 1991: Gilmore's 49 Sets New Single Game Record

Chaminade Athletics Hall of Famer
George Gilmore is one of most prolific scorers in school history. His career scoring average of 30 points per game is the highest ever by a Silversword basketball player.
During a five-day span in December 1991, Gilmore went on a scoring binge that few has ever seen, amassing 114 points during a three-game stretch.
It started on Dec. 18, 1991 when the Silverswords hosted Central Missouri State at McCabe Gymnasium. Gilmore was nearly unstoppable against the Mules, pouring in a school-record 49 points, breaking the previous mark of 44 he had previously held.
He also set records of 19 free throws made and 22 free throws attempted while hitting 13-of-18 shots from the floor which led the 'Swords to a 111-107 win over Central Missouri, which qualified for the NCAA South Central Regional the previous two seasons.
Gilmore was not done, adding another 40-point contest three days later with a 42-point effort in an upset over Division I Portland at the Kaua'i Classic in Kapa'a.
He finished the year as Division II's scoring champion with a 31.4 average.
