Small and Liner Named HPH Athletes of the Week

Chaminade University men's basketball player Kendall Small (Lakewood, Calif./Pacific/Mayfair HS) and women's tennis player Catrina Liner (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis) are the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Male and Female Athletes of the Week for games played between Feb. 10 and 16.

Small totaled 41 points, 19 rebounds, 19 assists and three steals to help the 'Swords win two of three games during the week in the always-challenging southern California stretch of the schedule. He had 15 points and seven assists to help the 'Swords' upset nationally-ranked Point Loma on Monday and had another seven-assist contest in a win at Biola.

In the 'Swords' opening match of the year on Friday on the Big Island, Liner and playing partner Kayleen Lau pulled off an upset of Dallas Baptist's regionally-ranked doubles squad which entered the match undefeated at 8-0. They managed to force a tiebreaker then won it 7-5.

On Sunday, Liner and Lau nearly defeated Hawai'i Hilo's top doubles team, losing in another tiebreaker. Then in No. 1 singles, Liner took the Vulcans' top player, Marina Colvee to a third set before falling 10-7.
