Kremer Named PacWest Freshman of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University guard Kevin Kremer (Chico, Calif./Utah/Pleasant Valley HS) has been named the Pacific West Conference Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week for Feb. 17 through 23.

The 6-foot-6 redshirt freshman came off the bench last Monday at Fresno Pacific and co-led the Silverswords with 14 points, hitting 5-of-10 shots from the floor while making 4 of 6 from the free throw line. He also pulled down six rebounds, had two steals and an assist.

Kremer has the third-highest rebounding total for the 'Swords this season at 5.6 per game. It is his second freshman of the week honor this season. It is also the sixth freshman of the week award by a Silversword this season, the most of any school in the conference.

The other weekly conference winners were Azusa Pacific's James Spurgeon (Player) and Point Loma's Kaden Anderson (Defender).

The Silverswords wrap up the regular season this week against their long-time island rivals, Hawai'i Pacific University on Tuesday and the University of Hawai'i Hilo in their final game on Thursday, both coming at home at McCabe Gymnasium.

Chaminade (15-10, 13-7 PacWest), which qualified for next week's PacWest Tournament, can finish no lower than their current fourth-place standing. CUH is just a game behind No. 3 Concordia Irvine (14-6 PacWest) and can claim the third spot with two wins and a CUI loss.
