PORTLAND, Ore. – Chaminade University guard
Tyler Cartaino (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) on Friday was named to the Division II Conference Commisioners Association (D2CCA) Men's Basketball All-West Region First Team.
The 6-foot-6 senior led the Pacific West Conference in scoring this past season, averaging 20.8 points per game and helped the Silverswords to an 18-11 record and a third-place finish in the PacWest for second straight year.
Cartaino also ranked fourth in the PacWest in shooting percentage at 55.2 percent from the floor and pulled down 5.5 rebounds per game. He had career-highs of 36 points twice, had two double-doubles and is just one of 17 Silverswords in team history with 1,000 career points.
UC San Diego's Tyrell Roberts was chosen as the D2CCA West Region Player of the Year.
Cartaino is now eligible for D2CCA All-America honors which will be announced later this month.
