IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University defender Savannah Breeze Miranda (Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Aiea) on Monday was named the Pacific West Conference Defender of the Week.

The freshman helped the Silverswords win the final three matches of their Northern California road trip last week, proving the game-winning assists on the final two.

On Thursday, the Aiea High School graduate launched a free kick from 35 yards out near the left sideline where Sharon Cain (Honolulu/Kamehameha-Kapalama) redirected the shot inside the left post for the game-winner at Academy of Art.

Then in the 14th minute in Saturday's road finale at Fresno Pacific, Miranda had another free kick opportunity, near the same area as her previous one against the Urban Knights. The ball was headed in by Chaminade's other Cain, Caili Cain (Makakilo, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama) – Sharon's sister – which proved to be the winning score.

The 'Swords allowed just three goals during their four-match trip and the win against the Sunbirds improved them to 7-6 overall, guaranteeing them a .500 season for the first time in program history.

The 'Swords have an opportunity for their first-ever winning season Saturday if they can upset Hawai'i Hilo on the Big Island.
