WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's golf team concluded the 2021 season Wednesday with a final round 313 at the Pacific West Conference Championships held at the par-70, 6,566-yard Waikoloa Beach Course.
The Silveswords finished with a 54-hole total of 949, coming in sixth, behind Dominican University of California.
Jeren Nishimoto (Honolulu/Kaiser) concluded a successful Chaminade career by finishing with a 236, the lowest among the Silverswords in the tournament. Nishimoto carded a final round 6-over-par 76 and lowered his score in all three rounds.
Colby Gunderson (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle) and
Schuyler Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) both finished at 239 and had identical 7-over 77s in the final round.
Kalani Frazier (Kapolei, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kapolei) shot an 86 in the third round to finish with a 243 total while
Desmond Mello (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Hawai'i/Moanalua HS) ended his collegiate career with a 248 after carding an 83 in the final round.
Academy of Art won the PacWest title with an 861, two shots better than Hawai'i Hilo. The PacWest individual champion was Hawai'i Pacific's Keita Okada who shot a 3-under 207, winning by one shot over ART U's Julius Kreutzer.
