WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's golf team finished the second and final round of the Hawai'i Challenge on Sunday with a 324 at the par-70, 6,566-yard Waikoloa Beach Course.
The Silverswords finished third behind host team winner Hawai'i Hilo (577) and Hawai'i Pacific (586) at the course that will be the site of the Pacific West Conference Championships later this month.
Schuyler Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) carded a final round 80 to tie
Jeren Nishimoto (Honolulu/Kaiser) for low score honors among the 'Swords with 36-hole totals of 156. Both finished in a tie for 11th place overall.
Colby Gunderson (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle) fired Chaminade's final-round low with a 6-over-par 76 and concluded with a 160.
Gavin Bedoya (Honolulu/Kaiser), playing as a non-scoring individual, shot an 88 in the final round for a total of 169.
Desmond Mello (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Hawai'i/Moanalua HS) finished the tournament at 171 while
Kalani Frazier (Kapolei, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kapolei) shot 175 and
Jackson Tyler (La Plata, Md./Wesley College/Montverde Academy, Fla.) at 192.
HPU's Keita Okada was the individual winner by two shots with a 2-under 138.
The second Hawai'i Challenge will move to O'ahu when the Silverswords in addition to the Sharks and Vulcans will again face off at the Pearl Country Club on Saturday, April 10.
