HONOLULU – Chaminade University women's volleyball head coach
Kahala Kabalis Hoke announced Thursday the promotion of assistant coaches
Kolby Kanetake and
Amanda Vazquez.
Kanetake, who was the part-time assistant in his first year during the 2020-21 academic term, assumes the role of the full-time assistant. He was an assistant coach at the University of San Francisco, California Berkeley and was the head coach at University High School in Honolulu. Kanetake played collegiately at the University of Hawai'i Manoa where he was a two-time AVCA All-American and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) honoree and ranks third in career digs with 775.
Vazquez takes over for Kanetake as the team's part-time assistant after being with the team as a volunteer assistant the previous four years. Vazquez, who played professionally in Puerto Rico for 13 years, has been an instrumental part of the 'Swords' success. She helped the program to its first-ever consecutive 20-win seasons in 2018 and '19 including its first NCAA West Regional berth since 2004. Vazquez played her college volleyball at UC Irvine where she helped the Anteaters advance to their first two NCAA Tournament berths in 2003 and '04.
Kabalis Hoke, Kanetake and Vazquez are all graduates of Moanalua High School.
