Cheney, Cain Earn HPH Silversword Athlete Honors

Chaminade University soccer forwards Kelton Cheney (State College, Pa./Penn State/State College HS) and Caili Cain (Makakilo, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama) are the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Male and Female Athletes of the Week for games played from Sept. 20 to 26.
 
Cheney tallied a two-goal game in the men's soccer squad's 4-3 double-overtime win over Western Washington on Sept. 21. The senior forward found the back of the net in the 22nd and 51st minutes against the Vikings, the first non-Pacific West Conference men's team to visit the Saint Louis Field pitch since Cal State San Bernardino in September 2013. Cheney is the 13th Silversword in program history to record a multi-goal match.
 
Cain's first career goal was the game-winner in the women's soccer team's 1-0 victory over Hawai'i Pacific on Saturday. Her score came off a free kick from 20 yards out to give the 'Swords their second win over HPU in the last three meetings. Cain was named the PacWest Player of the Week for her efforts.
