Chaminade University goalkeeper
Brandon Yasue (Honolulu/Kaiser) and forward
Shantel Torres-Benito (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Sacramento State/Iolani HS) have been named the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Male and Female Silversword Athletes of the Week for the competition between Aug. 30 and Sept. 5.
Â
Yasue earned his first career win and shutout in the men's soccer team's 2-0 season-opening win over Hawai'i Pacific on Saturday. He made two saves and preserved the 'Swords' lead in the final 47 minutes.
Â
Torres-Benito scored the game-winning goal with just 32 seconds remaining, blasting a shot just outside the box to give the women's soccer team a thrilling 2-1 win over Central Washington in Nampa, Idaho on Saturday. The victory evened the 'Swords' first-ever non-conference road trip east of the Pacific time zone.
