IRVINE, Calif. – For the third time this season, the Chaminade University women's volleyball squad is tabbed as the Pacific West Conference Team of the Week.
The Silverswords (19-7 overall, 14-1 PacWest) swept both visiting Biola and Azusa Pacific last week as they maintained their first-place position in the PacWest standings. Chaminade, which has won 16 of its last 17 matches, currently hold a 1 ½-match lead over Point Loma (13-3) as they close in on repeating as conference champions.
The 'Swords limited the Eagles and Cougars to a combined .026 hitting percentage while hitting .236 themselves. Since dropping their first conference match of the season against Point Loma on Oct. 19, they did not allow any opponent to reach 20 points in any set until APU got to 22 in the final set on Friday.
Individual weekly conference honors went to Concordia's Kirra Schulz (Player of the Week) and Point Loma's Anna Massarri (Defender).
Meanwhile, the AVCA Division II Poll released Monday still has the Silverswords just outside the top 25, holding at the No. 28 spot.
The Silverswords will play their final home match at McCabe Gymnasium on Wednesday against in-city rival Hawai'i Pacific University. The team will honor seniors
Alecza Abary (Fontana, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga),
Alexia Byrnes (Chicago/Youngstown State/Saint Francis HS),

Brooklen Pe'a (Woods Cross, Utah/Youngstown State/Bountiful HS),
