HONOLULU – Fans will get their first look at the 2023 Chaminade University softball team this weekend when they participate in the University of Hawai'i Fall Preseason Classic at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
The Silverswords open the tournament Friday when they face Fullerton College at 1:30 p.m., followed by host Hawai'i at 4 p.m.
The Classic takes Saturday off and resumes Sunday at noon against Fullerton then finishes against UH at 2:30 p.m.
Due to the concurrently running Rainbow Classic men's basketball tournament on both days, fans are reminded that traffic entering the UH Manoa campus could be heavier than usual.
Chaminade is coming off a 16-win season, its most since 2013. The 'Swords return both starting pitchers in
Taylor Genera and
Jaeda Cabunoc, the latter earning All-Pacific West Conference honors as a utility player.
The Silverswords also return All-PacWest second baseman
Cheyne Obara, who had a team-leading 12 RBI while her 15 double plays turned led all PacWest middle infielders in 2022.
