Four from Women’s Soccer Honored as Academic All-District

The Chaminade University women's soccer team was honored for academic by having four named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly known as the College Sports Information Directors of America or CoSIDA) NCAA Division II Academic All-District Team.
 
Kira Nishiki (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Mililani), Hoku Schatz (Hau'ula, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Univ. of Idaho/Kahuku HS), Clara Slate-Liu (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada/Ecolè Alpha Secondary) and Kyla Takazono (Pearl City, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Pearl City) were honored for their work on the pitch and in the classroom.
 
Nishiki, a senior, played in all but one of the Silverswords' games this season, totaling 351 minutes and had an assist which helped clinch a 2-0 win over Fresno Pacific on Oct. 18. A two-time Academic All-Pacific West Conference honoree, Nishiki carries a cumulative grade-point average of 3.84 in Elementary Education.
 
Schatz, a two-time academic all-conference honoree, closed out her three-year Chaminade career by starting 14 games with a goal and assist this past season. Her goal was the game-winner in the team's season opener at Fort Lewis. Schatz is a Business Administration major and has a 4.00 GPA.
 
Slate-Liu, a sophomore, played in 14 games and totaled 487 minutes. She recorded her first point against Holy Names on Oct. 13, which was a game-winning assist in the closing minutes. Slate-Liu got her first career goal against Fresno Pacific five days later. Her cumulative GPA is 3.96 in Psychology.
 
Takazono was honored by the CSC for a second time in her career after being named to the Academic All-District Team in the spring of 2021. A constant in the defensive backfield, the senior played in all but 30 of the team's 1,440 minutes this season. Takazono carries a 3.95 GPA in Elementary Education.
 
All four advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot which will be announced in early December.
 
The Division II CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspect for the 2022-23 Division II Academic All-America programs.
