IRVINE, Calif. – Following their record-setting season, the Chaminade University women's soccer team placed three members to the All-Pacific West Conference Teams released Wednesday.
Savannah Breeze Miranda (Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Aiea) was named to the All-PacWest Second Team at midfielder while forward
Gracie Bowers (Murrieta, Calif./California Baptist/Vista Murrieta HS) and defender
Tehani Smith (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle) were named to the third team, as voted by the conference coaches. It is the first all-conference recognition for all three.
Miranda demonstrated exceptional skills and a powerful foot during the season. Both of her goals were game winners including one against Holy Names in the waning minutes of a 2-1 win. She is the Chaminade's first second team selection since Caitlin Tatemichi in 2017.
In her only season with the 'Swords, Bowers, a Cal Baptist transfer, led the team with five goals and 12 points. The senior ranked fifth in the conference in shots (3.07) and seventh in shots on-goal (1.40).
Smith has been a constant presence in Chaminade's defensive half, having started 39 straight matches dating back to her freshman year. The fourth-year junior was a menace to opposing attackers, showing an innate ability force turnovers and win 50-50 balls.
The Silverswords achieved their first-ever winning season, posting a 7-6-3 record including a 4-3-3 mark in the PacWest. Their fifth-place finish in the PacWest standings is the highest in program history.
Fresno Pacific's Tori De Leon was voted as the PacWest Player of the Year while PacWest champion Hawai'i Hilo had three honored with Lolo Retsky as Goalkeeper of the Year, Grace VerHage as Newcomer of the Year and Gene Okamura as Coach of the Year. Point Loma's Lauren O'Malley and Zoe Crockett were the Defender and Freshman of the Year, respectively.
