LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team is ranked No. 24 in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Poll, released Monday.
The Silverswords, who finished the 2022 season a win shy of a berth in the NCAA final eight, received 152 points, 17 more than Quincy University. It is just the second time in program history the team concluded the season in the final AVCA poll, the other occurring in 2004.
The 'Swords finished the season at 26-8, the second-most wins in program history. Chaminade, the two-time defending Pacific West Conference champions, advanced to the NCAA Division II West Region title match after upsets over top-seeded Alaska Anchorage and No. 4 seed Cal Poly Pomona. They became the first No. 8 seed in the west to eliminate the top seed since Utah Tech (previously known as Dixie State) accomplished the feat in 2014.
UAA is 10th in the poll while CPP is No. 23. Other west region teams in the poll include West Region champion Cal State Los Angeles (No. 6), Western Washington (No. 14) and Cal State San Bernardino (No. 20).
Division II national champion West Texas A&M is ranked No. 1 in the final poll.
