Chaminade University men's golfer
Ryan Shields Vega (Fort Myers, Fla./Cypress Lake) and
Salamasina Robertson (Hau'ula, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kahuku) are the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Male and Female Athletes of the Week for competition between March 14 and 20.
Shields Vega was tied for the lowest Chaminade score in last week's Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout in Alameda, Calif. The freshman fired an even-par-72 in the tournament's second round then completed the tournament with a 2-over 74 in the third round finale. His 226 is his low score during a 54-hole event.
In last Monday's match against Bucknell, Robertson teamed with
Kayleen Lau in doubles, holding their own against their Division I counterparts. The duo trailed 5-4 before the match was halted when the Bison captured the doubles point. In singles, Robertson was the only Silversword to capture a game and trailed 6-0, 3-1 when her match was stopped.
