IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University setter Leilani Ama (Spokane, Wash./Mt. Spokane) on Tuesday was named the Pacific West Conference Player of the Week.

The 6-foot-1 freshman helped power the Silverswords to a perfect 4-0 Northern California road trip including three in the PacWest.

Ama averaged 8.5 assists and 3.0 digs per set for the 18th-ranked 'Swords but also demonstrated versatility with 12 kills, six blocks and three service aces.

Ama is second in the PacWest in assists at 8.46 per set while Chaminade as a team is also second in kills per set (13.06) and hitting percentage (.234).

Defender of the Week went to Anna Massari of Point Loma while the Sea Lions were also the Team of the Week.

The Silverswords return to McCabe Gymnasium Thursday when they host in-city rival Hawai'i Pacific University. Chaminade has won eight straight in the series – and 15 of the last 18 meetings – including the first matchup this season on Sept. 14. However, HPU has momentum, riding a two-match winning streak entering Thursday.

First serve is set for 7 p.m. with an alumni match preceding it at 4:30 p.m.
