LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team moved up two spots to No. 16 in the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top 25 Poll released Monday.
The Silverswords received 427 points and ranked between No. 15 West Florida and No. 17 Ferris State.
They are also one of six West Region teams in the national poll. Cal State San Bernardino is the highest of the West programs at No. 11. Central Washington is at 18, followed by Cal Poly Pomona at 20, Seattle Pacific at 22 and Cal State Los Angeles at 24.
The top five remained unchanged with Wayne State holding down the top spot in the poll, followed by Concordia-St. Paul, Tampa, Missouri-St. Louis and West Texas A&M.
The Silverswords (19-2 overall, 7-2 Pacific West Conference) open a three-match home stand starting Wednesday against Biola (11-5, 7-2 PacWest) at McCabe Gymnasium. The winner moves into sole possession of second place in the PacWest. The 'Swords will also face Fresno Pacific (7-10, 4-5 PacWest) on Friday and conference newcomer Westmont College (8-9, 5-5 PacWest) on Sunday.
