KAHUKU, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's and women's cross country teams competed in their final regular season races Saturday at the Hawai'i Pacific University Invitational at Kahuku Golf Course.
The races were the final tune up before the upcoming Pacific West Conference Championships, which will be on Oct. 21 in Fresno, California.
The Silverswords won the men's 8-kilometer race by default when host HPU did not field enough runners to qualify for a team score. For the second straight race,
Mason Stewart (Uniontown, Pa./Uniontown) earned medalist honors while
Owen Daugherty (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park) and
Peter Jan Ramos (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Waipahu) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Kaden Graves (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy),
Lennon Lindholm (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) and
Conor McMahon (Pacific, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) rounded out the CUH men's finishers.
In the women's 6-k,
Caitlin Bocobo (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Mililani) was Chaminade's first counting finisher followed by
Zoe Lucas (Fremont, Calif./Washington) and
Jordyn Koki (Ewa Beach, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama). The 'Swords did not have enough runners to qualify for a team score.
Division I University of Hawai'i Manoa won the women's event, earning a perfect 15 points by placing the first five runners.
No other details, including finishing times, were available as of posting time.
The races were also the final on O'ahu for men's seniors Daugherty, McMahon, Ramos and
Ben Salinas (Highland, Ind./Western Colorado Univ./Highland HS), as well as Bocobo, the lone senior from the women's squad.
The PacWest Championships will be in Fresno's Woodward Park with the women's 6-k and men's 8-k.
