IRVINE, Calif. – Three members of the Chaminade University women's soccer team were named Wednesday to the All-Pacific West Conference Teams.
Haley Mo'okini (San Gabriel, Calif./Gabrielino) was named to the all-conference second team while
Delaney Buntin (Vail, Ariz./Pima CC/Cienega HS) and
Naomi Takata (Honolulu/Pearl City) were both on the third team.
Mo'okini earned her first all-conference honor after a team-leading seven goals and 15 points during the season while her four game-winning goals were tied for the conference lead. The sophomore defender converted all four penalty kicks and led the 'Swords with 27 shots and 15 shots on-goal.
Buntin, a transfer from Arizona's Pima Community College, had three goals in helping the 'Swords break the single-season team record in goals with 20. The junior played all 16 games, making 13 starts, logging 1,111 minutes, one of five Silversword field players with over 1,000 minutes.
Takata earned her first All-PacWest honor after completing a stellar five-year career guarding the Chaminade net. The senior was fifth in the conference with a .938 goals-against average with six shutouts. A starter from the first game as a freshman in 2018, Takata never left the goal, playing 5,730 consecutive minutes. She wrapped up her career as the school's all-time career leader in wins (25), ties (14), shut outs (20), goals-against average (1.02) and saves percentage (.787).
The trio helped the lead the Silverswords to its third straight winning and seven-win seasons, both program records while finishing fifth in the conference with a 5-2-3 mark. They ended the season with a win and tie against two nationally ranked foes, Concordia and Hawai'i Hilo, respectively.
Teani Arakawa of UH Hilo was named the PacWest Player of the Year while the Vulcans also had the Goalkeeper of the Year in Phoebe Barnes and Jazlynn Ellis as the Newcomer of the Year. Point Loma had Emma Tharpp as the Defender of the Year, Nikki Ross the Freshman of the Year and Kristy Kiely the Coach of the Year.
