HONOLULU – The new Chaminade University baseball team hosted a Pinto League youth baseball tournament in November at the Sand Island Softball Complex.
Member of the team ran operations including scorekeeping, announcing and umpiring during for the Pintos, which are the 6-8 year-old age bracket. Four teams participated in this goodwill tournament with six games in all.
Along with the tournament, there were skills competition including a throwing relay and roadrunner challenges, won by Koolau Kia and the Aiea Braves, respectively.
The Silverswords baseball team will return to the field for intercollegiate action for the first time since 1981 on Feb. 2 when they host Cal State East Bay at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park. The full schedule will be released later this week.
