HONOLULU – The Chaminade University men's golf team flashed a lot of potential in the 2025-26 campaign.
With three freshman and two sophomores paving the way, the Silverswords took their fair share of lumps but managed to put together a rather successful season.
Chaminade's lowest scoring players were freshmen Riley Born (Las Vegas/Odyssey), Cody Dao (Henderson, Nev./Liberty) and Chance Wilson (Princeville, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Enlightium Academy).
Born, who didn't join the team until the start of the spring semester, averaged a team-low 75.47 gross shots per round while Wilson posted a 76.79 average. Dao wasn't far behind at 77.08.
Two of the returning golfers, sophomores Tanner Capik (Los Angeles/Beverly Hills) and A.J. Dahlk (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields), helped to complement the second-half of the team. Dahlk, the lone active returnee who played in 20 matches as a freshman in 2024-25, posted an 81.67 average while Capik, who was on the team last year but did not post any qualifying scores, was at 80.29.
The remaining two golfers, J.J. Hutchins (Los Angeles/Huntington Beach) and Jack Shea (Somerset, Mass./Bishop Stang), helped the team with depth in both the non-championship fall and championship spring semesters.
Head coach Renee Yuen, who completed her 13th year as head coach, saw the youthful squad's team scoring up five strokes from the previous year but saw the potential.
Although Wilson had 47 birdies in his 24 rounds, it was the second-most on the team. Dao was the 'Swords' birdie leader with 48. Despite playing in just 15 rounds, Born led the team with three eagles.
Capik posted some of his best scores toward the ending of the season. His 13-over in the Pacific West Conference Championships was his second-lowest 54-hole performance then followed with a plus-16 in the season-ending PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship in Florida in early May.
