HONOLULU – Chaminade University baseball head coach
Chad Konishi on Thursday announced the team's 2024 schedule, a 50-game slate, which includes 34 Pacific West Conference contests with home fields split between Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park (CORP) in Waipahu and the University of Hawai'i's Les Murakami Stadium.
The team's first nine home series will be at CORP with the final six at Les Murakami Stadium when the Rainbow Warriors baseball team is on the road.
The Silverswords open the season on Thursday, Feb. 1 against Cal State East Bay at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park at 5 p.m.
The following day will feature a doubleheader against Cal State Los Angeles at 11 a.m. followed by a rematch against CSUEB at 5 p.m. The 'Swords and CSULA will face off again on Sunday, Feb. 4, with all games at CORP.
Chaminade will also face fellow island squads Hawai'i Hilo and Hawai'i Pacific in both PacWest and non-conference games. The three teams will play each other in non-conference games at UH Hilo's Wong Stadium on Feb. 9-10, which also includes Saint Martin's University.
The 'Swords will face HPU on Feb. 9, the first of 10 meetings between the two programs, the first-ever meeting between the two in-city programs as the Sharks did not field baseball until 1982. The 'Swords and Vulcans will face each other nine times.
In another first-ever meeting, the Silverswords will face the University of Hawai'i in a single game on Tuesday, April 16 at Les Murakami Stadium. The two programs never faced each other in Chaminade's only year of intercollegiate baseball in 1980.
PacWest baseball contests are similar to conference softball match-ups as four-game series with doubleheaders on consecutive days.
Chaminade's PacWest opener will be against HPU on Thursday, Feb. 22, at CORP in what are being designated as away games for the 'Swords as the Sharks' home field of Hans L'Orange Field continues undergoing renovations until early next summer.
The 'Swords and Vulcans will meet in non-conference twin bills at CORP on Feb. 17-18 with the conference games on Friday, April 5 at Les Murakami Stadium and Saturday, April 13 in Hilo.
PacWest members Fresno Pacific, Azusa Pacific and Westmont College will be on O'ahu with the Westmont series being the first to be played at Les Murakami Stadium.
Chaminade's first mainland trip will be a 12-game, 15-day jaunt to southern California, which begins on Friday, March 22 at Biola, followed by a series at two-time defending PacWest champion Point Loma (March 27-28), and ending on Tuesday, April 2 at Concordia University Irvine.
The 'Swords wrap up the season with four games against HPU at Les Murakami Stadium with a PacWest doubleheader on Saturday, April 27 followed by the non-conference season finale on April 28.
Chaminade plays its first intercollegiate season in 43 years this spring.
