IRVINE, Calif. – The Chaminade University softball team on Tuesday was named as the Pacific West Conference Team of the Week for games between Feb. 13 and 20.

The Silverswords opened their season this past weekend, splitting their two doubleheaders to Saint Martin's and Western Washington, picked to finish second and third in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, respectively.

Playing at their brand-new field at Sand Island Park, the veteran-laden 'Swords won their two opening games behind the arm of senior Taylor Genera (Norwalk, Calif./Whitney), both being complete-game victories.

In their four games so far this season, Chaminade has five extra base hits including two triples. Taryn Fujioka (Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Pearl City) and Chasity McKean (Kapolei, O'ahu, Hawai'i/College of Southern Nevada/Kapolei HS) are both hitting .400 on the season.

Audrey Allen of Academy of Art was named the PacWest Player of the Week while Biola's Raylene Roybal was the Pitcher of the Week.
