Brattain, Oyama Named Hawai‘i Pacific Health Silversword Athletes of the Week

Chaminade University forward Jalen Brattain (Shallowater, Texas/Lubbock Christian Univ./Shallowater HS) and guard Lile Hina Oyama (Honolulu/Kalani) are the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Male and Female Athletes of the Week for competition between Jan. 30 and Feb. 5.
 
Brattain totaled 48 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 57.6 percent from the floor which included 5-of-10 from beyond 3-point range. The junior helped the men's basketball team win the final two games of their 13-day road trip which spanned Southern California to the state's Central Valley and put them within striking distance of the sixth and final spot in the upcoming Pacific West Conference Championships which will be held at McCabe Gymnasium.
 
Brattain posted his second 20-point contest with 21 points in their 81-69 win at Concordia University Irvine then had 18 in their victory at Fresno Pacific.
 
Oyama totaled 11 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for the women's basketball team during the final mainland road trip of the season. The junior tied her season high with eight points at Concordia, making 4-of-6 shots. She then dished out a team-high three assists in the team's road finale at Fresno Pacific.
