Baseball Announces First Recruiting Class

HONOLULU – Chaminade University baseball head coach Chad Konishi announced Monday the first 19 members of his first-ever recruiting class for the new Silverswords baseball program.
 
Yuito Asai; INF; Blue Valley North HS; Overland Park, Kan.
Played two years on the varsity squad and twice made the school's honor roll.
 
Luke Anzellotti; C; Central Catholic HS; Vancouver, Wash.
Named first team all-league as a junior and helped guide the Rams to a Class 6A state playoff berth.
 
Brayden Braga; LHP/OF; Dougherty Valley HS; San Ramon, Calif.
Named to the 2023 All-East Bay Athletic League First Team and was a three-time varsity letterwinner.
 
Rhyn Chambers; RHP/C; San Clemente HS; San Clemente, Calif.
Was the team's most valuable player in 2022 and helped the Tritons advance to the 2023 CIF-Southern Section Division 3 playoffs.
 
Jackson Dorn; OF; Mt. Hood CC; Happy Valley, Ore.
Spent the last two seasons at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon, and hit .223 for the Saints in 2023 with 14 runs and seven RBI. Dorn played his high school ball at Clackamas High, earning all-league honors during his sophomore and senior seasons while also earning all-state kudos in the latter year.
 
Bryan Fernandez; RHP; Crean Lutheran HS; Anaheim, Calif.
Earned Scholar-Athlete award as a junior and helped Crean Lutheran advance to the 2023 CIF-Southern Section Division 4 state championship game.
 
Luke Grakal; P/OF; Hamilton HS; Los Angeles
Hit .359 with 14 runs and 10 RBI during his senior season. He also made nine appearances on the mound with a 2-0 record and a 4.43 ERA.
 
Jacob Harper; OF; El Camino College; San Pedro, Calif.
Hit .278 while driving in eight in helping El Camino win 31 games and a berth to the 2023 3C2A Southern California Super Regionals. In his freshman season of 2022, Harper hit .267 with 21 runs and 20 RBI. Harper attended high school at San Pedro High where he earned all-league and all-city honors.
 
Reyn Kapua; RHP; Mid-Pacific Institute; Honolulu
Posted an ERA of 1.34 in 26 1/3 innings, allowing 22 hits with four strikeouts.
 
Andrew Karns; INF; Coeur D'Alene HS; Coeur D'Alene, Idaho
Is a three-time all-league performer and was named to the 2023 All-Inland Empire 5A Team.
 
Kaimana Martinez; C/1B; Capistrano Valley Christian HS; Mission Viejo, Calif.
Helped the Eagles win their 13th straight league title and earn a berth in the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.
 
Jasper McGrath; RHP; Point Loma HS; San Diego
Made 12 appearances for Point Loma High during his senior season, toting a 0.79 ERA, allowing two runs and 12 hits in 17 2/3 innings with 14 strikeouts. McGrath helped the Pointers earn a berth in the CIF-San Diego Section Division 3 playoffs.
 
Jacob Ogden; OF; Wilsonville HS; West Linn, Ore.
Earned all-league and all-state honors and helped the Wildcats advance to the semifinals in the 2023 Oregon School Activities Association 5A state tournament.
 
Max Patterson; RHP; Olympic College; Honolulu
Pitched for one season (2021) at Olympic College, where he went 1-3, tossing 21 innings and has spent the last two years with the Driveline Baseball program in Kent, Washington, to continue to improve his craft. Patterson is a 2019 Kalani High School graduate and helped the Falcons win the 2018 Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Division I consolation championship.
 
Jackson Peper; 1B; Tesoro HS; Las Flores, Calif.
Helped the Titans advance to the 2023 CIF Division 2 playoffs and capture the 2022 CIF Division 4 state championship.
 
Ezekiel Ribuca; C/1B; Saint Louis School; Honolulu
The 2023 All-Interscholastic League of Honolulu honorable mention honoree doesn't have to travel very far to continue his collegiate career as Saint Louis and Chaminade share the same campus. Ribuca has been the Crusaders' primary backstop the past two seasons in helping them reach two HHSAA Division I tournaments including capturing an ILH title as a junior.
 
Xavier Stoker; RHP; College of the Canyons; Cedar City, Utah
Went 2-2 with two saves with a 4.53 ERA for the Cougars this past season. In 43 2/3 innings, he struck out 45 while allowing 41 hits as he helped Canyons advance to the CCCAA Southern California Regional championship game. Stoker attended high school at Canyon View High in Cedar City, Utah.
 
Jacob Villacorte; RHP/INF; Saint Louis School; Ewa Beach, Hawai'i
Earned 2023 ILH Pitcher of the Year honors after going 3-2 on the mound and helping the Crusaders advance to their second straight HHSAA Division I Tournament berth. In 33 2/3 innings, Villacorte had a 1.67 ERA, allowing 34 hits with 34 strikeouts and just 10 walks.
 
Evon Williams; INF; Dougherty Valley HS; San Ramon, Calif.
A two time-time All-East Bay Athletic League honorable mention honoree.
 
The program is expected to announce more recruits for this academic term in the coming weeks. The Silverswords baseball squad will take to the diamond for the first time in four decades in February. The full schedule will be announced later this fall.
