Baseball Announces Remainder of 2023-24 Recruiting Class

HONOLULU – Chaminade University baseball head coach Chad Konishi announced Wednesday the second set of recruits for the 2023-24 team.
 
Derek Augenstein; C/1B; Palomar College; Vista, Calif.
Hit .258 with four doubles and seven RBI during his sophomore campaign. During his freshman year, Augenstein was a Pacific Coast League honorable mention selection after batting .473 with 13 extra base hits while driving in 16.
 
Jaren Banis; C; Kamehameha-Kapalama; Wahiawa, Hawai'i
Helped the Warriors capture the Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Division I championship, their first state title since 2003. He was also an honor roll student.
 
Zac Brown; RHP; Mater Dei HS; Santa Ana, Calif.
Helped the Monarchs finish second in the Trinity League and No. 6 in the Orange County Top 25 Rankings.
 
Sebastian Castro; LHP; Palomar College; San Diego
Made 14 appearances coming out of the bullpen for the Comets, going 2-0 and logging a 2.50 ERA in 18 innings of work.
 
Chopper Correia; RHP; Point Loma HS; San Diego
Was named to the Academic Honor Roll in all four years of high school and was a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.
 
Joseph Cossette; RHP; Cerritos College; Laguna Hills, Calif.
Made six appearances with four starts for the Falcons, tossing 10 innings with nine strikeouts.
 
Joe DuCoeur; C; Lake City HS; Coeur D'Alene, Idaho
Named second team all-league and all-state as a junior and helped Lake City advance to the Idaho state 5A tournament since 2016. DuCoeur was named to the IdahoSports.com 5A All-Tournament Team this past May.
 
Mac Elske; RHP; Lower Columbia CC; Lake Oswego, Ore.
Went 4-0 with three saves and a 2.39 ERA during his sophomore campaign after helping the Devils capture a record 15th Northwest Athletic Conference baseball championship.
 
Kia'i Kawai; OF; Kamehameha-Kapalama; Ewa Beach, Hawai'i
Helped the Warriors capture the Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Division I championship, their first state title since 2003.
 
Caleb Kim; SS; Christian Academy School; Aiea, Hawai'i
A member of the Pac-5 squad, was named to the All-Interscholastic League of Honolulu honorable mention team in 2023 after leading the Wolfpack with 13 RBI.
 
Haruki Kitazaki; OF; Northwestern Oklahoma State Univ.; Fukuoka, Japan
Comes as a graduate transfer after playing the past two years at fellow NCAA Division II institution Northwestern Oklahoma State. Kitazaki, a 2019 graduate of Jiyugaoka High School in Fukuoka, Japan, spent his freshman season at Citrus College in Glendora, California, hitting .143 before shutdown of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Cato Kleinman; INF; Monterey Peninsula College; Westlake Village, Calif.
Hit .341 with 15 RBI and 36 runs this past season for the Lobos. During his freshman season, Kleinman hit .377 and finished fifth in the Coast Conference in hits with 60.
 
Casey Kudell; INF; Irvine Valley College; Irvine, Calif.
Earned 2022 All-Orange Empire College honors after hitting .378 as a freshman.
 
Aydan Lobetos; OF; Kamehameha-Kapalama; Ewa Beach, Hawai'i
Earned All-ILH First Team and all-state honorable mention honors after helping the Warriors capture the HHSAA Division I championship, earning all-tournament team honors.
 
Safea Mauai; INF; BYU; Hilo, Hawai'i
Played 23 games for the Cougars in 2023, hitting .217 while driving in 16 with three home runs. He began his collegiate career at the University of Hawai'i Manoa during his freshman season in 2021 where he hit .299 with 14 RBI.
 
Jacob-Thomas "JT" Navyac; P/SS; Cal State Fullerton; Kailua, Hawai'i
Returns home after playing the past three seasons at Cal State Fullerton. A 2020 Saint Louis School graduate, he hit .225 with 18 RBI during his career with the Titans.
 
Matthew Orozco; RHP; Bishop O'Dowd HS; San Leandro, Calif.
Earned second team all-league honors after going 3-2 with a 3.20 ERA in 45 innings.
 
Ace Perry; OF; University HS; Kaneohe, Hawai'i
Played with Pac-5, earning All-ILH Second Team honors after hitting .377 with 10 RBI and seven steals in 2023.
 
Josh Regalla; Harrison HS; Acworth, Ga.
Earned first team all-region honors in his senior year. Was an honor roll student all four years and carries a cumulative grade-point average of 3.93.
 
Ryan Ruch; OF/LHP; Patrick Henry HS; San Diego, Calif.
Helped the Patriots capture two league titles and a California Interscholastic Federation Division I runner-up finish.
 
Brayden Wells; LHP; Lower Columbia College; Pullman, Wash.
Went 4-1 with a 5.29 ERA, striking out 39 in 49 1/3 innings in helping the Red Devils capture the Northwest Athletic Conference championship.
 
Mac Zawistoski; LHP; JSerra HS; San Juan Capistrano, Calif.
Helped the Lions capture the 2023 California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section Division I championship.
 
The 22 recruits complete the roster, bringing the total number of student-athletes to 41. The first 19 recruits were announced in early June.
 
The Silverswords, who are fielding the institution's first baseball program since 1981, will begin fall workouts in September and start regular season action in early February. Game day fields will be announced later this year.
