AUSTIN, Texas – Chaminade University libero
Hula Crisostomo (Honolulu/Univ. of Texas El Paso/Moanalua HS) on Tuesday was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Volleyball Academic All-America Division II Third Team, as voted by members of the CSC.
The graduate transfer from Honolulu was one of the top liberos in the nation, leading the Pacific West Conference in digs at 4.93 per set, totaling 490 digs, both which ranks second in Silverswords' history. Her digs average was 39th in Division II while her total was 17th. She posted 12 20-dig matches with a season-high 30 against Biola on Oct. 18.
She also had 43 service aces at 0.36 per set, ranking third on the team and seventh in the PacWest.
In the classroom, Crisostomo carries a 4.00 grade-point average in Chaminade's MSCP program (Master's of Science in Counseling Psychology). Prior becoming a Silversword, she posted a 3.95 GPA during her two years at the University of Texas El Paso.
The Moanalua High School graduate is the first Silverswords women's volleyball student-athlete to earn Academic All-America status.
The 'Swords finished 2023 with a program-record 30 wins and earned the West Region's No. 1 seed for the first time ever, their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the past five Division II championship seasons.
Although her indoor career is over, Crisostomo moves over to Chaminade's first-ever varsity beach volleyball team which is set to begin competition in mid-February.
The Division II CSC Academic All-America program is supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Division II Academic All-America program.
