INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team is ranked third in the final West Region top 10 rankings released by the NCAA on Wednesday.
The Silverswords are third in the region behind Cal Poly Pomona and San Francisco State, both members of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The 'Swords lost to both teams back in September.
Point Loma is the only other Pacific West Conference in the region rankings at No. 4. The CCAA has three other teams in the rankings including Cal State Los Angeles (No. 5), Stanislaus State (8) and Cal State San Bernardino (9). The Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) has three squads in Central Washington (6), Simon Fraser (7) and Alaska (10). Chaminade has victories earlier this season against Cal State LA, Cal State San Bernardino and Alaska.
The top eight teams in the region will be unveiled at the NCAA Division II Selection Show which will be at 2:30 p.m. at NCAA.com. The regional will begin either Thursday, Dec. 5 or Friday, Dec. 6 at a campus location.
The Silverswords (25-4, 18-0 PacWest), ranked No. 7 in the AVCA Top 25 Poll, can clinch a share of the PacWest title with a win Thursday against in-city rival Hawai'i Pacific University. It is also Aloha Senior Night where nine 'Swords will be honored. First serve is at 6 p.m.
