INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team is among the 10 teams that appears in the first set of West Region rankings released by the NCAA on Wednesday.
The ranking is in alphabetical order. The next set of rankings, which will be released next Wednesday, Nov. 13, will be the numbered list.
The Silverswords are one of two Pacific West Conference members in the first rankings, the other being undefeated Point Loma (19-0, 13-0 PacWest).
The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) has five teams in the rankings while the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) has three.
The Silverswords will make a crucial trip to southern California which will likely determine the PacWest title as well as the top seed in the NCAA West Regional which will be held from Dec. 5-8 at a campus site.
The 'Swords, at 21-4 overall and 14-0 in the PacWest and ranked No. 7 in the latest AVCA Top 25 Poll, open their trip Saturday at Biola. They will also be at Concordia University Irvine on Monday, Nov. 11, at Azusa Pacific on Wednesday, Nov. 13 then wrap their trip on Friday, Nov. 15 at Point Loma in a match that will likely determine the conference champion and the PacWest's automatic berth to the regional.
