Chaminade University guards
Jamir Thomas (Berkeley, Calif./City College of San Francisco/Berkeley HS) and
Dezaray Carter (Honolulu/Sacred Hearts Academy) are the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Male and Female Athletes of the Week for competition between Dec. 9-15.
Thomas totaled 35 points eight rebounds and four steals with 10 3-pointers to help the men's basketball team win both games during the week. The senior drilled eight triples, two shy of the school record, for a season-high 25 points in the team's rout of Nobel University on Tuesday. He added 10 points, six rebounds and three steals in the 'Swords' conference win over in-city rival Hawai'i Pacific University on Saturday.
Carter made 5-of-10 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers, for a season-high 12 points while also dishing out three assists to help the women's basketball team down HPU to improve them to 2-0 in the Pacific West Conference, the team's best start since 2015-16. The victory was also the 'Swords' second over the Sharks in the past three meetings after dropping 40 straight from March 2007 to January 2024.
