WAIPAHU, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The highly anticipated Chaminade University baseball season opener in the O'ahu Baseball Classic at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park has been postponed due to weather.
Heavy rain pushed the Silverswords opener against Cal State East Bay to Sunday at 11 a.m. at CORP Field No. 1. Their new season opener will be Friday at 11 a.m. against the Pioneers. The 'Swords will face Cal State Los Angeles in the nightcap game at 6 p.m. where members of the original 1980 team will be honored and the ceremonial first pitch by Chaminade University administrators.
Thursday's bad weather also halted the tournament opener between Hawai'i Pacific University and Cal State LA in the top of the seventh inning with the Sharks leading 5-3. That game will resume on Saturday at 4 p.m. followed by the regularly scheduled game between the two 30 minutes after completion of the halted game.
Thursday's second game between HPU and CSU East Bay was postponed and will be played on Friday at CORP Field 1 at 11 a.m.
All games remaining are pending the weather.
