Taryn Fujioka (Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Pearl City) and men's golfer
Jack Yeager (San Clemente, Calif./JSerra Catholic) are the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Female and Male Athletes of the Week for competition between March 11 and 17.
Fujioka was 7-for-8 with two RBI in the Silverswords' non-conference series at Hawai'i Pacific University last weekend. The junior was a perfect 4-for-4 with an RBI in the opener then followed it up with a 3-for-4 performance in the nightcap, a 2-1 'Swords' win. Not only did Fujioka drive in the go-ahead run in the seventh, she also threw out the potential tying run from scoring in the bottom of the seventh, part of the team's game-ending double play.
Yeager shot a 7-over-par 223, tied for the team's lowest score during the 54-hole Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout in Alameda, Calif. The freshman led the Silverswords with 11 total birdies during the tournament.
