Chaminade University baseball student-athletes
Sebastian Castro (San Diego/Palomar College/Great Oak),
Mac Elske (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lower Columbia CC/Lakeridge HS),
Cato Kleinman (Westlake Village, Calif./Monterey Peninsula College/Westlake HS),
Xavier Stoker (Cedar City, Utah/College of the Canyons//Canyon View HS) and
Brayden Wells (Pullman, Wash./Lower Columbia CC/Pullman HS) on Tuesday were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.

Castro made 15 appearances for the Silverswords with two starts, compiling a 1-2 mark with a 5.77 ERA. The Criminology and Criminal Justice major tossed 34 1/3 innings with 23 strikeouts.

Elske made nine starts and four relief appearances for the 'Swords with a 1-4 mark. In 50 innings, the Business Administration major struck out 29. One of his top appearances was his April 16 start against Division I University of Hawai'i Manoa, retiring all nine batters he faced.

Kleinman hit .292 with 22 runs and 26 RBI. The Psychology major was an excellent contact hitter, striking out just 14 times in 144 at-bats for a ratio of 10.3, the fifth-best in the Pacific West Conference.

Stoker posted a 3-5 record, making 11 starts and 13 appearances. The Business Administration major finished second on the team with 36 strikeouts.

Wells made seven pitching appearances for CUH, all starts, before his season was cut short due to a mid-March injury. In 37 innings, the Criminology and Criminal Justice major K'd 31while his opponent batting average was a team-low .267.

To be considered for the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, academically and athletically; have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50; and must compete in 90 percent of the games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, it is 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched.

The Division II CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structures to assist with CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Division II Academic All-America program.
