LONG BEACH, Calif. – Chaminade University men's and women's basketball teams led their respective sports with the highest team grade-point averages in the Pacific West Conference Academic Achievement Awards announced Tuesday.
The Silversword women held the highest GPA among the conference women's basketball programs in 2023-24, boasting a 3.78, which was also the highest of any of the 15 PacWest-sponsored sports.
The 'Swords' men had the highest GPA among men's hoops squads with a 3.48.
Overall, Chaminade Athletics finished third among the PacWest's 10 institutions with an overall department GPA of 3.47.
Among the aggregate GPA for PacWest men's sports, Chaminade finished second at 3.42. In women's sports, CUH was third at 3.51.
Point Loma was the PacWest Academic Achievement Award winner for the second straight year at 3.52. The Sea Lions also had the best GPA among both men's (3.44) and women's (3.56) sports in 2023-24.
The PacWest Academic Achievement Awards are tabulated by collecting the cumulative or career GPAs from all student-athletes from each sport who participated during the 2023-24 academic term.
