Grace Talpash (Temecula, Calif./University of Oklahoma/Great Oak HS) has been named the first Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Female Athlete of the Week.
The fifth-year graduate student made her first start at setter since her freshman season at Oklahoma in 2020 during last weekend's Hawai'i-Alaska Challenge, helping the 12th-ranked Silverswords win their 2024 openers.
Talpash totaled 46 assists and 18 digs over the weekend, also adding three kills. She logged a double-double (21 assists, 10 digs) against Alaska Anchorage in the afternoon match, then had 25 assists and eight digs later that evening against Alaska.
The 'Swords are on the road this week, facing four nationally-ranked squads at the Yotes Classic in San Bernardino, California. They open the tournament against No. 21 Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday, face No. 10 St. Cloud State and top-ranked Cal State Los Angeles on Friday then close against host and eighth-ranked Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday.
