Jonah Valmonte (Poolesville, Md./Robert Morris University/Poolesville HS) are the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Female and Male Athletes of the Week for competition between Oct. 27 and Nov. 2.
Merrick allowed just one goal for the women's soccer team in their two draws at Menlo and Jessup. On the season, she owns a goals against average of .769 which ranks sixth in the Pacific West Conference.
Valmonte made 12 total saves for the men's soccer team last week in helping the Silverswords to a 1-0-1 record. His 11 saves on Thursday at Menlo tied his career high while he faced 26 shots fired at him. The senior added another save in Saturday's win over Jessup and even got an assist in the 'Swords' final goal of the game. Those efforts helped him earn the PacWest Defender of the Week honor.
